After 13 months, my ‘71 GMC Vandura moves under its own power! Not very far, granted, but it moved. I need to get the engine cover in place because the radiator fan sends a gale through the cab, but I’m about ready to try and drive it down the street.

He doesn’t really wear glasses. It’s a Clark Kent sort of thing.

Did you ever get the rust issue at the windshield seal lip taken care of? I feel remiss that I didn’t follow closely enough to know.

Thank you. One day, I will drive it to the Atlantic Ocean. But not this summer...

No. The van has largely sat lo these past 13 months. But that is changing...
When I’m ready to fool with that, I’ll be sure and reach out.

That feeling when a project becomes an automobile is just the best.

It’s not an automobile yet, but at least it has a strong pulse. I’m going to do some more bleeding of the brakes tonight to make sure I can trust them, then get the engine cover in place and before week’s end, maybe a trip around the block.

Let it warm up and that gale is the best interior heater you can find. Significantly more effective than the factory one.

Perhaps, but the factory heat does not include any fumes...

Awesome - congrats! :D

Thanks. Very satisfying, it was.

I imagine! I really wish I could get my life in gear to get a project car of my own...then again, if I import a 126, it will be in less ‘project-y’ than your van is! :P

Yeah, well, I had to turn 50 before I finally got mine. And watch a few dozen episodes of Roadkill...

Huzzah!

True enough I guess. Although if your engine lets out fumes, you’ve got leaks that need fixing. But all in good time. It’s a great feeling to have a long-term project move under its own power for the first time in a while.

Nothing wrong with waiting, it just gets tiring sometimes :P
Financial and job security come first, sadly :/
